Kelly Ponte

Kelly Medeiros Ponte is an associate lawyer in the criminal law group at Ursel Philips Fellows Hopkinson LLP where she practices exclusively in criminal law.  Kelly appears at both the trial and appellate levels in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. 

Kelly often represents clients charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation and other sexual offences. She also regularly represents clients charged with firearms offences, drug offences, domestic assault, fraud, robbery and impaired driving offences. Kelly has acted as co-counsel on murder and attempt murder charges. 

Kelly completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at York University and then earned her J.D. degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. While in law school Kelly was named one of two Dean’s Fellows in Criminal Law. She mentored and tutored students in criminal law and completed the Criminal Law Intensive Program.

While completing her undergraduate degree and law degree, Kelly spent her summers working for two prominent criminal lawyers in Toronto. After completing law school, she articled at a top-tier criminal law firm in Toronto, where she continued as an associate in criminal law until she joined UPFH.  

Kelly is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association. She is bilingual in English and Portuguese.
